Contact of surfaces and contact characteristics of offset surfaces

摘要: Based on differential geometry, the contact problems of two surfaces are discussed in this paper. The relationship between the contact status of two surfaces and that of offset surfaces are also analyzed. For a 5-axis NC machining, some research such as optimization of cutter location and calculation of the geometrical cusp height are important. The research results indicate that the relative normal curvature is an important geometrical invariant for describing the contact state of two surfaces. For point contact two surfaces, the calculation equation for the second order remained error is given. For line contact two surfaces, the condition of the second order line contact is that the principal directions and curvatures of the two surfaces are the same along the contact curve. If two surfaces keep the second order line contact, their two offset surfaces will also keep the second order line contact, and their third order remained errors are also uniform with that of the two offset surfaces.

View-invariant human action recognition via robust locally adaptive multi-view learning

摘要: Human action recognition is currently one of the most active research areas in computer vision. It has been widely used in many applications, such as intelligent surveillance, perceptual interface, and content-based video retrieval. However, some extrinsic factors are barriers for the development of action recognition; e.g., human actions may be observed from arbitrary camera viewpoints in realistic scene. Thus, view-invariant analysis becomes important for action recognition algorithms, and a number of researchers have paid much attention to this issue. In this paper, we present a multi-view learning approach to recognize human actions from different views. As most existing multi-view learning algorithms often suffer from the problem of lacking data adaptiveness in the nearest neighborhood graph construction procedure, a robust locally adaptive multi-view learning algorithm based on learning multiple local L1-graphs is proposed. Moreover, an efficient iterative optimization method is proposed to solve the proposed objective function. Experiments on three public view-invariant action recognition datasets, i.e., ViHASi, IXMAS, and WVU, demonstrate data adaptiveness, effectiveness, and efficiency of our algorithm. More importantly, when the feature dimension is correctly selected (i.e.,>60), the proposed algorithm stably outperforms state-of-the-art counterparts and obtains about 6% improvement in recognition accuracy on the three datasets.

摘要: This research aims to enhance the interaction between a structure and its architectural form. Having a qualitative approach, the present work discovers some successfully used geometrical features of the Iranian ancient architecture in terms of the architectural-structural interaction. We define four qualitative criteria for this assessment, i.e., construction-ability, cost effectiveness, participation of the structure in fulfillment of the visual, and functional-semantic needs of the architectural form. For this purpose, two case studies including the Jamé Mosque of Isfahan and the Soltaniyeh building are investigated. The outcomes of this research help designers to not only design efficient structures by adapting non-load bearing elements with the general form of the structure, but also meet concepts such as the unity or perfectionism in the structure.

In this research, the temperatures of three-dimensional (3D) protruding heaters mounted on a conductive substrate in a horizontal rectangular channel with laminar airflow are related to the independent power dissipation in each heater by using a matrix G+ with invariant coefficients, which are dimensionless. These coefficients are defined in this study as the conjugate influence coefficients (g+) caused by the forced convection-conduction nature of the heaters’ cooling process. The temperature increase of each heater in the channel is quantified to clearly identify the contributions attributed to the self-heating and power dissipation in the other heaters (both upstream and downstream). The conjugate coefficients are invariant with the heat generation rate in the array of heaters when assuming a defined geometry, invariable fluid and flow rate, and constant substrate and heater conductivities. The results are numerically obtained by considering three 3D protruding heaters on a two-dimensional (2D) array by ANSYS/FluentTM 15.0 software. The conservation equations are solved by a coupled procedure within a single calculation domain comprising of solid and fluid regions and by considering a steady state laminar airflow with constant properties. Some examples are shown, indicating the effects of substrate thermal conductivity and Reynolds number on conjugate influence coefficients.

Analysis of suitable geometrical parameters for designing a tendon-driven under-actuated mechanical finger

摘要:

This study aims to optimize the geometrical parameters of an under-actuated mechanical finger by conducting a theoretical analysis of these parameters. The finger is actuated by a flexion tendon and an extension tendon. The considered parameters are the tendon guide positions with respect to the hinges. By applying such an optimization, the correct kinematical and dynamical behavior of the closing cycle of the finger can be obtained. The results of this study are useful for avoiding the snap-through and the single joint hyperflexion, which are the two breakdowns most frequently observed during experimentation on prototypes. Diagrams are established to identify the optimum values for the tendon guides position of a finger with specified dimensions. The findings of this study can serve as guide for future finger design.

Geometrical nonlinear deformation model and its experimental study on bimorph giant magnetostrictive

摘要: The geometrical nonlinearity of a giant magnetostrictive thin film (GMF) can be clearly detected under the magnetostriction effect. Thus, using geometrical linear elastic theory to describe the strain, stress, and constitutive relationship of GMF is inaccurate. According to nonlinear elastic theory, a nonlinear deformation model of the bimorph GMF is established based on assumptions that the magnetostriction effect is equivalent to the effect of body force loaded on the GMF. With Taylor series method, the numerical solution is deduced. Experiments on TbDyFe/Polyimide (PI)/SmFe and TbDyFe/Cu/SmFe are then conducted to verify the proposed model, respectively. Results indicate that the nonlinear deflection curve model is in good conformity with the experimental data.

Implementation of total Lagrangian formulation for the elasto-plastic analysis of plane steel frames exposed to fire

摘要: In this paper, the co-rotational total Lagrangian forms of finite element formulations are derived to perform elasto-plastic analysis for plane steel frames that either experience increasing external loading at ambient temperature or constant external loading at elevated temperatures. Geometric nonlinearities and thermal-expansion effects are considered. A series of programs were developed based on these formulations. To verify the accuracy and efficiency of the nonlinear finite element programs, numerical benchmark tests were performed, and the results from these tests are in a good agreement with the literature. The effects of the nonlinear terms of the stiffness matrices on the computational results were investigated in detail. It was also demonstrated that the influence of geometric nonlinearities on the incremental steps of the finite element analysis for plane steel frames in the presence of fire is limited.

This paper presents the kinematical features of an inversion of the double linked fourbar for morphing wing purposes. The structure of the mechanism is obtained using structural synthesis concepts, from an initial conceptual schematic. Then, kinematic characteristics as instant center of rotation, lock positions, dead point positions and uncertainty positions are derived for this mechanism in order to face the last step, the dimensional synthesis; in this sense, two kinds of dimensional synthesis are arranged to guide the wing along two positions, and to fulfill with the second one some aerodynamic and minimum actuation energy related issues.

动态热过程分析用建筑几何模型的构建

摘要:

建筑墙体表面的太阳直射辐射投影及辐射强度随时间发生很大变化,该变化在已有的动态热过程算法框架内很难直接计算。根据建筑传热模型特点和计算机图形学原理,构建了动态热过程的建筑几何模型,该模型将建筑空间抽象为由矢量平面围成的空间区域的集合;提出了建筑几何模型的核心计算方法,即三维空间内直线与表面的矢量运算。该建筑几何模型能解决建筑动态热过程中直接计算建筑墙体表面之间的太阳直射辐射换热和太阳直射辐射投影等问题,并对空气流通、楼房之间的相互遮阳和光污染等问题的研究也具有实际意义。

特大跨度斜拉桥施工几何控制原理的数值验证

摘要:

以苏通长江大桥为研究对象,通过数值仿真分析验证了几何控制原理的正确性。通过对施工过程中临时荷载和环境温度对于结构线形影响的系统分析和研究结果表明,在考虑施工全过程几何非线性影响的条件下,临时荷载及环境温度等因素仅影响施工过程中的结构状态,基本不影响成桥的结构线形和内力状态,几何控制原理适用于超大斜拉桥施工控制,采用几何控制原理能够获得良好的施工控制结果。

基于高清监控图像的工程车辆检测算法

摘要: 目的:基于监控图像,设计一种工程车辆检测算法,使其能快速高效地对工程车辆等组件可变铰链式刚体进行识别与检测。 创新点:模拟人类视觉检测过程,把检测算法分为粗提取与精确分类两个阶段。第一阶段提出“颜色频率”特征并用其优化HOG描述子。第二阶段改进一种显著性提取算法并用改进的算法来改善dense SIFT算子。两阶段结合,得到整体高效的检测算法。 方法:监控图像的特点是高空广角监控,工程车辆像素面积小,模拟人类视觉从复杂多样的物体中检测目标物体的过程,把检测过程分为粗提取阶段与精确分类阶段。人类在寻找目标物体时,一般会快速浏览这些复杂多样的物体群,遇到拟似目标物体,会多停留几秒来确认是否为真正的目标物体。粗提取阶段,加入“颜色频率”的HOG描述子(图3)和线性SVM分类器,快速扫描整张监控图像,从中提取出拟似工程车辆区域。这一阶段的目的是低漏检率快速提取拟似目标区域。精确分类阶段是采用显著性蒙版化的dense SIFT算子(图8),去除第一阶段提取出的非工程车辆区域,得到最终的低漏检率低错检率的快速检测算法(图1)。 结论:针对监控图像的工程车辆等组件可变的铰链式刚体,提出一种先大范围粗提取后小范围精确分类的检测算法。算法不仅高效快速,且具有一定泛化性能。
